    Salad Ingredients

    1 head Romaine Lettuce, chopped

    1 Large Tomato, chopped

    ½ English Cucumber, chopped

    6 Radishes, chopped

    3 green onions, sliced

    ½ cup chopped parsley

    Pita Chips Ingredients

2 Gluten Free Pitas, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 cup Vegetable oil for Frying

    ½ teaspoon sea salt

fattoush salad dressing ingredients with a light colored background

    Dressing Ingredients

    2 ½ tablespoon Lemon Juice

    3 tablespoon Olive oil

    1 teaspoon Minced Garlic

    ¾ teaspoon Sumac

    2 Fresh Mint leaves, chopped

    1 teaspoon Pomegranate Molasses

    Salt and Pepper, to taste

    How To Make Fattoush Salad

    Pita Chips Instructions

Step 1: In a frying pan or skillet, add enough oil to form about ½” covering the bottom of the skillet. Place the skillet over medium-high heat and heat the oil until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2: Add the gluten-free pita bread pieces into the oil and fry for about 5 minutes until the pita is brown and crispy on both sides. You can stir the chips frequently to make sure they are evenly browned.

Step 3: Remove the fried pita chips to a paper-towel-lined plate to soak up the extra grease. Sprinkle with salt and set aside.

    Salad Instructions

Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together all the dressing ingredients until thoroughly combined. Set aside.

    What Is Fattoush Salad?

Fattoush is essentially a bread salad that is mixed with lettuce and other greens, herbs, and vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and radishes. This popular Lebanese salad is topped with fried or baked pita bread and a zesty delicious dressing.

    What Does Fattoush Taste Like?

Fattoush salad tastes super fresh with notes of lemon, mint, and parsley. Fattoush salad dressing has a sweet and sour taste thanks to the pomegranate molasses. This is a versatile salad and can be catered to any different taste preference by adding more or less of the herbs called for.

Can I Bake The Pita Bread?

Yes! Whether you bake or fry the pita bread to go with your salad is up to you and your preferences. To bake your pita bread toss it in olive oil, salt, and pepper and place the pieces on a baking sheet. Preheat your oven to 350 and bake until they are toasty and golden.

    Recipe Variations

What I love about fattoush salad is that you can leave out whatever ingredients you don’t want and add in anything you’re craving. You can add red or green bell peppers, yellow or red onions, avocado, meat, or any other vegetable you like.

    Expert Tips

    • If you are not going to finish the salad, only add as many pita chips as you are going to eat. Store them separately so that they are still crunchy when eating leftovers.
