This fruit compote recipe is made from a triple berry medley, honey, and lemon juice. It’s fresh, easy, and the perfect topping to any of your favorite sweet or savory snacks. Compote is a type of fruit spread similar to jam or jelly but has a thicker texture. The best part about compote is that you can use any of your favorite fruit; fresh or frozen.

So grab whatever fruit you have in your pantry or freezer and let's make this delicious, simple, fruit compote!

What Is Fruit Compote Made With?

1 lb frozen berries (I used a Triple Berry Medley)

    2 tablespoon honey

    ½ tablespoon lemon juice

    Step By Step Instructions

Step 1 : In a medium pot, add the frozen berries, honey, and lemon juice. Stir until combined. Heat over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes, or until the berries begin to release juice and the liquid begins to boil.

    What To Use Compote For?

I love foods that I can make and use for a number of things and compote is one of those foods. It can be used as a mix in/topper for yogurt, custard, or ice cream, brownies, cheesecake, pound cake, waffles, pancakes, or french toast.

Fruit compote is also so delicious spread on top of a cracker along with your favorite cheese.

    Optional Add-ins

    • You can use fresh fruit if you’d prefer. Fresh berries and stone fruits are good options.
    • You can replace the honey with maple syrup or granulated sugar for a vegan option.
    • If you want to add some spice to your compote use cinnamon, cloves, ginger, or turmeric.

    Expert Tips & Tricks

    • You may only have to heat the fruit for 5 minutes before it releases juice.
    • Use fresh lemon juice if possible.
    • If you like a sweeter compote, you can always add more sugar after the compote has finished cooking

    Storage Instructions

Store fruit compote in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. You can also freeze your compote for up to 3 months.
