Roasted garlic is SO yummy. It tastes similar to raw garlic but as it roasts in the oven it caramelizes and creates a milder, sweet flavor. So how do you roast garlic? I can’t wait to teach you.
Enjoy your roasted garlic in your favorite soup, salad, as a spread for your toast or sandwich, or just plain; straight out of the oven! It truly is so delicious you can add it to any of your favorite dishes.
Recipe Ingredients
1 large head of Garlic
1 teaspoon Olive oil
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: Remove the outside layer of paper from the garlic bulb, but keep the bulb intact with all of the cloves still connected.
Step 3: Use a knife to cut about ¼” off the top of the bulb, leaving a flat top surface and exposing the insides of the cloves.
Step 4: Place the cut bulb in the cavity of a muffin pan.
Step 5: Drizzle the bulb with the olive oil, then place aluminum foil loosely around the top of the bulb.
Step 6: Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until the top turns brown and the garlic is soft.
How To Serve Roasted Garlic
- To serve, wait until the garlic cools. Once it has cooled you can squeeze the entire bulb from the bottom.
- Alternatively, you can serve the whole loaf with small butter or paring knives and each guest can scoop out their own portion of roasted garlic (best if serving on toasted bread, etc).
Storage Instructions
- Store roasted garlic in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
- You can also store your roasted garlic in the freezer for up to 1 month.
Expert Tips & Tricks
- Check the garlic by piercing the cloves with a knife or fork to check their tenderness.
- Even after the garlic is golden brown, you can keep roasting it. The longer you bake the garlic, the more caramelized the flavor will get.
- Try to keep the aluminum foil from touching the garlic, as it sometimes sticks. You can also spray the aluminum foil with nonstick spray.
