Sometimes we all just need to eat cake. And this chocolate chip applesauce cake is a fantastic option to satiate that craving.
The best part about this chocolate chip applesauce cake
It's chewy, moist, chocolatey goodness. It almost has a fall feel to it (kind of like this incredibly yummy and popular harvest bread recipe), but I couldn't help myself from sharing because it's one of those flavorful cakes packed with spice, that is wonderful to make and partake of all year long.
Tips for baking chocolate chip applesauce cake
Whatever you do, keep a watchful eye while baking this and do not overbake! They key to perfect chocolate chip applesauce cake is the texture, and dry cake can put a damper on the whole day! I bake mine anywhere from 22-25 minutes, but in higher altitudes your baking times may need to be a tad longer.
A good indicator this cake is finished is the golden brown appearance. It will be browned around the edges and a beautiful golden color on top. Insert a toothpick in the middle if you're stressed about whether it's still gooey in the middle. If it comes out clean, you're golden! Also worth noting: your cake will continue to bake after you remove it from the oven until it cools, so it's okay if it doesn't seem extra firm right away.
Isn't that a glorious sight to behold? It tastes even better than it looks!
Obviously.
I would like to thank my mother-in-law (and the Academy) for this wonder of a recipe. That woman knows her way around a kitchen! Like, she's up there next to Ina!
Also, you could say this chocolate chip applesauce cake is appeeling, but it's so much more than that, guys—it's delicious to the core!

I made the mistake of looking at your blog while I was hungry. So I ended up making this and it is delicious! It's moist without being gooey and the chocolate is a perfect contrast to the cake. I ate a lot and pretended that it was healthy because of the applesauce.:)

Haha, I make that mistake all the time. It's almost as bad as grocery shopping when hungry! I'm so glad you loved it! I pretend it's healthy too. 😉
