This hemp milk recipe is nutritious, delicious, creamy, easy to make, and has no added sugars or thickeners. And if you’ve been around for a while, you know that if I can make something at home and skip the commercially made version - I’ll be doing it!

Hemp milk is a plant-based milk made from hemp seed and water. It’s a popular alternative to dairy milk because it’s nutritious, plant-based, and can be consumed by those with a tree nut allergy. If you make your own you can add any natural sweetener you prefer - in this recipe I use maple syrup and it’s *perfection*.

    FAQs

What does hemp milk taste like?

    • Hemp milk has an earthy, light, nutty flavor with a creamy consistency.

Is hemp milk the healthiest milk?

    • Hemp milk is considered a healthy milk due to its high protein content and low calorie count. It’s also loaded with essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, calcium, vitamin D, B12, iron, and zinc.

What can I do with hemp milk?

    • Use it as coffee or tea creamer, as the base for your daily smoothie, in your bowl of cereal, or in anything you bake.

Is it cheaper to make your own hemp milk?

    • If this is your first time making hemp milk then it will cost a little bit more than running to Target and buying a carton. However, once you have a 12 oz bag of hemp hearts and some maple syrup you’ll be able to make this recipe 3 - 4 times before you have to buy more hemp. So in the long run, yes it’s cheaper! And without the added sugars/thickeners.

    Does hemp milk have CBD?

    • Hemp milk does not contain CBD.

    Notes

    • If you’d like sweeter milk, you can add more maple syrup. Alternatively, you could use a pitted date as a sweetener.
