Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 inch fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the water into a small pot on the stove over medium-high heat. Add the sliced ginger into the pot.
  • Bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat and allow the water to simmer, uncovered, for 5-10 minutes (the longer the water simmers, the stronger the tea will be).
  • Once the tea has simmered, pour it through a sieve and remove the ginger slices.
  • Pour into two separate glasses and garnish with lemon slices if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You do not have to peel the ginger if you don’t want to. In that case, rinse and scrub the outside of the ginger. It can then be boiled.
  • You can peel the ginger if you’d like.
  • If you have small pieces of the ginger peel you want to strain out of the tea, you can also pour the tea through a cheesecloth.
