Are you a big Valentine’s Day fan? My husband and I made a pact years ago to not celebrate it (we’re basically grumpy 90-year-olds living in 30-something bodies 😂👨🏼‍🦳👩🏻‍🦳). HOWEVER. As in true Abbey form, I am ALWAYS here for the food and snacks. 🥒🍎🍿

    • This photo was taken on a warm summer day back in August. My boys and I had just completed a large figure eight walk through a local community garden. In my opinion, that’s what bliss feels like. Sunshine on my face, the buzzing of bees who bounce from bloom to bloom in my ears, the smell of fresh, slightly humid air, and a small, sweaty hand holding mine. Feeling that pure joy is always easiest for me in the summer.

However, winter tells another story. It’s fraught with difficulties, emotionally and physically. The cold and gray weather transfers into my soul, unfortunately. I am extremely affected by the seasons. It’s when anxiety and winter blues creep in. The paradoxical isolation of motherhood seems to exacerbate as I crave solitude, yet find myself fearfully looking around for the familiarity of constant companionship once I am finally alone.

However, here is what Mother Nature, my greatest teacher and champion, has taught me...
.
I spend big chunks of my day tending and learning how to make tiny seeds germinate and thrive. They need light and water, but they also REQUIRE darkness. Without it, it is impossible for them to grow. ✨🌱💕
    • It’s an eggcellent day for this brown rice breakfast bowl with spinach and eggs. 🍳🌱 Nutritious, delicious, and sooo easy and quick to make. Like, we are talking this hot and savory brekkie will be melting in your mouth 10 minutes from when you start cooking! And bonus! ⚡️ Kids like it too! Yes, I am telling you that children can and will like spinach (or learn how!) with the right preparation and flavor combos.HERE IS THE RECIPE1 package instant brown rice (or rice or quinoa you have on hand)
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon avocado oil
Handful of spinach
Salt and pepper to taste1️⃣ Microwave rice packet per instructions on bag.
2️⃣ Pour avocado oil in frying pan and warm pan on medium-low heat.
3️⃣ While rice is cooking and pan is warming, whisk together eggs in a mixing bowl until fluffy and pale yellow. Pour eggs into the frying pan and cook on medium-low heat until bottom side is cooked. Use a spatula to flip to the other side, gently scrambling together to make big chunks.
4️⃣ Fold in spinach and cook about another 2 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
5️⃣ Assemble rice bowl by pouring rice, eggs, and spinach together. Add any additional spices as wanted. Enjoy!#thefeedfeed #paleo #whole30 #breakfastbowl #cleaneats #glutenfreerecipes
    • Acai you, staring hopelessly into your pantry or refrigerator, begging the question, “WHAT DO I EAT FOR BREAKFAST?” 🥺💆‍♀️ I got your back. And the answer is this açaí bowl. A food you THINK is fancy, but is actually super easy to make and full of antioxidants and fiber to keep you feeling energized, full, and happy. ✨ Also, it tastes like a tropical vacation, so there’s that. ☀️ HERE IS THE RECIPE:1 packet frozen acai smoothie puree
1/4 cup coconut water
1 frozen banana
1 cup strawberries quartered
1 banana sliced
1/4 cup almond butter
1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
2 tablespoons chia seedsPlace the acai packet, frozen banana and coconut water in a blender, and puree until smooth. Pour in a bowl.Cut up fruit and place in the bowl on top of the acai. Pour in the almond butter and top off with nuts and seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy!P.S.
