Best of February 2016

Happy Leap Day! I’ve been wanting to post things I am doing, loving, and finding inspiration from (beside my own cooking and food styling), and decided a monthly recap of the month is the way to go. (I’d like to thank the Academy and Minimalist Baker for this fabulous idea.) So here we are!

February was good to me. Plenty of award shows, goals set, new ideas realized, and a general feeling of well-being. For whatever reason, February is my magical, good juju month where I am at my personal best. It might have something to do with January being a refresh on life since it is the new year and my birthday month. Either way, I love February, and it’s my goal to keep the good vibes rolling all year long.

What I’m Reading

I had the grand idea of starting a book club on Periscope. If you’re not on Periscope, you are missing out! It’s a party every time, and the PERFECT platform for a social media book club since there is a live broadcast and the ability to chat. This is our first Scope Sisters book club pick, and we are starting with… Drum roll, please… Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert! I can hardly contain my excitement, and it’s an especially important topic to explore with all of these fellow creative spirits. Come join us!

What I’m Watching

The Oscars last night, obviously. I am still cheering for Leo and that smug face of his. And that standing ovation! (You can see my live reaction on Snapchat. I’m thebutterhalf over there.) I can’t even imagine how proud his mom is.

Next up, we have my Netflix picks for the month. I’m almost finished with the first season of Fuller House. It’s gloriously cheesy, and if you are expecting it to be otherwise and think it’s horrible, you are missing the point. I’m a member of the Netflix Stream Team and was invited to the Fuller House premiere in LA, so it was fun to watch it with the whole Tanner gang! (John Stamos does not age, for the record.)

If you’re looking for something with a little more depth and food related, you ABSOLUTELY must watch Chef’s Table. Specifically the Francis Mallman episode. It made me cry.

What I’m Working On

I’m in the works of putting together a food styling and photography ebook! I am still in the content stage, and have no idea about the world of ebook making, so if you know of any great resources I must use please send them my way! I’m also contributing some original recipes to a widely-read and favorite blogger of mine, and I am excited to share that with you in a few days.

Last but not least, I will be co-hosting a Magic Kingdom Meetup at Disneyland on March 11 with some of my favorite Periscopers and bloggers. We will be giving away prizes throughout the day, as well as on Instagram, so be sure to follow along or come and play on March 11!

Thank you so much for following along with this food blog and my creative journey. I am blessed to have such wonderful readers and friends I’ve made through social media. It’s a powerful tool when we use it for good! Here’s to an even better March! xo
